Footsteps: We don't like to think of illness or death at Christmastime, but these shadows can fall on any season. Jesus taught us an unforgettable lesson in empathy when he shared the grief of His friends after the death of Lazarus.
“Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how He loved him! Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me… And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth..." (John 1 1:35, 36, 41, 43, 44)

Song: Mercy’s Arms performed by Gladys Knight
Mercy's Arms written by Julie de Azevedo
The mighty fortress walls
I have built
around my foolish heart
As I
surrender all
To mercy's
arms
Bathed in
holy rain
Cleansed
from sinner's bitter stains
Only love
remains
And I'm
forever changed
By mercy's arms
Sweet the
surrender
Sweet the
embrace
Sweet the
forgiveness
To one
forever undeserving of his grace
Safely
encircled
Rested and
warmed
Sweet is the
taste
Of love that
awaits in mercy's arms
In the
light, the life, the way
Is the key
unlocking every chain
Sin is lost
and freedom gained
The price
was paid
By mercy's
arms
When I reach
my journey's end
How I hope
that He will call me friend
And reach
out for me again
Forever
spend
In mercy's
arms
